DIY First Aid Box
I have been binge listening to The Chris Loves Julia Podcast and therefore also been stalking/ binge reading their blog also named Chris Loves Julia. When I saw their Girl's Bathroom reveal (STUNNING!) I instantly wanted the enamel first aid box that they had on display. After a google search I found the exact one they have. Then I saw the price tag... I just can't stomach $56 for a decorative box. A few more clicks on the google machine and I found a few similar options like this red and white box from Amazon and the CB2 Ouch box. Both are very cute but also cost just about $30 each.
Needless to say I couldn't find any cute first aid boxes under $20, the arbitrary budget I set in my mind. I played with the idea of buying a tin and making my own box but tins aren't cheap and I couldn't find the right size. The idea of a DIY'ing a show box came to mind but the two we had in our house are beat up. Then I found a decorative box I had in a storage closet because my taste has changed since I purchased it. Currently it holds sewing supplies but those can be relocated. I decided I would turn my old sewing box into my own decorative first aid box.
Here is how I created my very own DIY First Aid Box for zero dollars! Note, I already owned all of the supplies to create my box but you could easily purchase everything for under $20!
Rustoleum makes a great spray primer that made painting my box's previously bold print very easy!
Have you ever decided to DIY something that you just didn't want to pay the full price for? I would love to hear your DIY successes and mishaps!
